1. High reliability

The failure rate of general relays is set at 50ppm, so to meet this requirement, the quality level of reed switches should be much higher than the 50ppm requirement. So far, no electromechanical device has been able to achieve such a quality level.


2. High security

The reed switch has excellent insulation performance. The insulation resistance of this switch can reach up to 1015 Ω, which means its leakage current can reach a level of 10-15A. Such extremely low leakage levels have wide applications in medical electronic devices, such as probes inserted into the human body or pacemakers, because these devices require no leakage current close to the heart, even microamperes or sub microamperes can change the electrical performance of key parts of the heart.


3. High adaptability

The reed sensor is sealed. Due to the switch component of the reed switch being sealed in an inert gas in an airtight manner, it will not come into contact with the external environment, so it can work in almost any environment without being sensitive to humidity or affected by external air interference; At the same time, the reed switch has no special requirements for environmental temperature and has a wide range of temperature adaptability: the typical working temperature range can be from -50 ℃ to+150 ℃, without special additional conditions, restrictions, or costs.


4. Ultra long lifespan

Because the reed switch is a wear-resistant component and does not use sliding components, there will be no metal fatigue phenomenon, ensuring an practically unlimited mechanical service life. At the same time, due to the use of inert precious metal rhodium as the contact point, the melting point is high, which can reduce the surface loss of the contact caused by arc power generation, making it more wear-resistant and able to maintain a longer working life. A typical reed switch can operate millions of times under low-level loads (below 5V and below at 10mA) (the lifespan of OKI series reed switches is generally guaranteed to be over 100 million times). This is equivalent to the number of semiconductor microfabrication devices.


5. Compact structure and small volume

The reed switch can be installed in limited space and is very suitable for miniaturized devices. At present, the minimum size of the reed switch has reached Ø 2.0 × 11.0mm.


6. Superior electrical performance

The reed switch has a series of excellent electrical properties, such as extremely low conductivity resistance of its contacts when conducting, with a typical value as low as 50m Ω; Its direct switching signal range can range from a few nanovolts to thousands of volts, with currents ranging from picoamps (one picoamp equals ten negative 15 amperes) to amps, and frequencies ranging from DC to 6GHz.


7. High speed operation

Due to the very small weight of each movable component, the operating speed is high, making the reed switch a component that can be used in transistor circuits or integrated circuits.
